For you! ...soda alcoholic's.?

You're probably wondering, about what I'm talking about. I'm a 16 year old teenage boy. First of all..I'm not overweight or anything. I'm just healthy in every aspect, as you can think of. Anyways, I went to the doctor today, which was really just rare. I kept getting a sharp pain on my lower right side. My doctor examined me, and said, "You have Kidney stones". I was increadibly shocked. Anyways, I'm going to have surgery tommorrow, and I'm really kinda scared. She was telling me that soda is soo bad, that it's almost a poison to our body. I'm pretty sure everyone know's this, but soda can cause so many problems.

So, my question to you is..?
Is there anything else I can drink..Instead of soda? I know water is good, but I know there has to be something else out there!

AND...Just a note? If you're a soda alcoholic? Please..Re-think what you're doing. You're basically killing your self.

Thank you, guys.

you need surgery for kidney stones?...man that suck. most guys just pee it out and yes its painful. i suggest lemonade. studies show it helps break down the stone.

fruit juice, gatorade, milk!

I often mix gerolsteiner (it's a bubbly mineral water) with unsweetened juices.

i'd rather die happy and satisfied than healthy, miserable and hit by a truck. the only other alternative to your soda question that i can think of is gatorade, kool-aid or fruit juices like hawaiian punch. hope this helped!

arizona drinks all are good and cheap

Wonderful question - thank you for that - soda is a killer.

Lemonade is good but sweet; tea is good but has caffeine.

Water is definitely your best bet. You just need to train yourself to drink water - always have water with you. If you think of soda or anything like that just take a big drink of water. After a while it will be natural to you.

Good luck with your surgery.

Drink juice, Gatorade, Green Tea, Lemonade. There are lots of options out there. Good luck with your surgery.

Try tea, especially green tea, and lemonade. Juices are good. Soda, of course, should not often be consumed as it is damaging. Good luck.

ice tea,, lemonade

Water is best to prevent kidney stones. Whatever else you drink, you should also or instead drink lots of water.

juice, kool-aid, beer, coffee if u need the caffeine or try energy drinks that aren't carbonated my mom's had kidney stones and lemonaid was suppose to pe good, but tea wasn't so great

iIwould not be scared to have surgery and I would drink juice or something but i don't think that pop is that bad it wont kill you I hope your surgery goes well.

Actually try Orange juice,- there is new evidence that they help reduce the chance of recurrent kidney stones..Good luck the surgery hurts like hell and if you have catheter left it really sucks..Best of luck...

flavored waters

juices/water/club soda/teas decaf types.

Try some fresh fruit mixers. Experiment with your favorites.

Sorry I drink soda and I drink quite a bit also, soda has not made me sick and over weight, but your doctor is wrong about kidney stones, only people in the west where the desert or where it is dry get kidney stones. When you pass one then you will know how a woman feels during child birth, and they will brake it up with a sonic devise.
Nothing to be afraid of, just part of life. But have fun passing it.

Soda is full of sugar, salt, co2, coloring, perservatives and secret ingredients that the companies do not list on label. They don't have to because it is small minute amounts and they don't want other soda companies to steel their trade secrets. What are these ingredients? Take Coke, they say if you pour it on a painted surface it will ruin the paint (like a car). Good for your stomach and intestines, I think not.

The soda companies spend millions to peddle their products. Think how much they sell and how much they make and that it is the young crowd that buys most of their product. We have learned to not like the taste of water and out bodies are 98% water, so we need and must have water. If we don't drink water we get kidney stones, gall stones, acne, fatty livers and more.

So water is first. Then it is ok to drink iced tea in moderation (teas is good for you/antioxidants) hot tea, herbal teas, small amounts of juice and moderate amounts of milk. That is it.

Thaks for passing the work around. It is important.

Yes soda is soooo bad for you, my dad used to drink one for breakfast lunch snack and dinner, and he got cancer in the throat.

My family now drinks lots of tea and water. At first its hard to just have tea or water with dinner but you get used to it after a while. I like Starbucks Black Tea the best (with sweet n low not sugar).
