What's the danger of celluitis and lung damage with IV cocaine use? It's not the first time.?

My husband was hospitalized with celluitis 2 months ago. I didn't know he was an IV drug abuser. He had a broken needle in his arm. He almost died. He continues to drink and sneak pot. Says he'll never do coke again, let alone shoot it. His arm has the most hideous scar ever. If he even snorts coke again, what can happen to him? Right now we are legally separated because I cannot trust him to not be doing drugs and I want to protect myself and teenage daughter from his moods. He is really paranoid. He got his first DUI last week. Now he'll be dropped from his insurance due to past speeding record. (My legal separation should prevent me from being affected.) He's terribly remorseful and sorta suicidal. Can he be helped once and for all? Am I being too hard for filing for separation? He's basically homeless with no money. He's 42 years old. I pray for him always, but think I'm done with the problems until he proves he can take care of himself away from me.

I had a bad drug problem. The only thing that helped me was tough love. I shot drugs in my arm... (heroin and cocaine). They always told me in rehab, if I went out and used again that I would end up killing myself. Of course, I would advise that he didn't do that, especially after getting celluitis. I think what you are doing is the right thing. Addiction is very hard to overcome. Keep praying and focusing on your daughter... She needs you. I will pray for you! You can try to get him to go to NA meetings with you. (Narcotics Anonymous). You can get involved in Al-anon. And they even have programs for teens to get into, when they have a family member with an addiction problem. I hope this helps you.

You need to be very careful, he's insane. Start distancing yourself from that problem and quit praying.
We are all born into this hell. Some of us do better than others, some of us simply lose.

I think you are doing the right thing. He needs to get into Narcotics Anonymous and clean up his life. Once he is clean and sober you can decide if you want to continue some sort of relationship with him.

Until then, he will just use you to get what he really wants--drugs.

It's OK to protect yourself, but he needs your help. Help him get treatment. He needs your strength.
