STD's & Oral Sex? |
Okay, say you were in a relationship with someone for about 1 1/2 years and all you engaged in was sex play and he performed cunnilgus on you. You did not perform fellatio on him. This was 2 1/2 years ago. I have looked on Webmd with those doctors and also other medical sites, like charts with what is more at risk - it states receiving/performing cunnilgus known risks are: Herpes and possibly HPV warts. However, when performing fellatio the rates are higher because the penis is hitting the back of the throat.... so am I just being paranoid? I am not really sure what your concern is, if he has been monogamous with you, (and you with him) for 18 months then there would have been signs of an STD before now. And yes women are more likely to show signs than men are. The micro-organisms that cause STD's (bacteria, viruses, spirochetes) are transferred in body fluids, so yes saliva can carry these. The biggest danger you have if oral sex is the only activity that you have engaged in is Papillomavirus which has been shown as the cause of cervical cancer. Had you been engaged in fellatio there are many cases reported of syphilis and gonorrhea of the throat reported, both transferred in the male ejaculate. Human saliva can carry HIV but transfer by this method is rare as you would have to have open sores in your oral area. I think you are worrying far too much. STD's are nasty and best avoided, but you are doing all the right things (including testing) and if anyone has you as a partner they are lucky because you care so much. i think your over reacting a little if both of u don't have anything and your both faithfull to eachother then u shouldn't have anything to worry about. i don't want to scare u but some people never show signs or have symptoms of herpes, the only way to tell is blood tests or std tests. |
