Sex-Negative Attitudes... Why are topics related to sex listed under "Health" like sex is a disease?

Honestly, no wonder there are so many scared teens here with questions about sex. They're terrified, and society has conditioned them to be that way. It's sad.

I think and "Yahoo Answers" people should be lobbied to create a "Positive Sexuality" section under perhaps "society and culture" where we can discuss sexual topics without treating sex like the plague.

Americans as a group have very negative attitudes toward sexuality. This classification is an out-growth of that puritanical and ignorant way of thinking.

Because it's usually referring to sexual health.

They ask sex questions here because there is nowhere to ask...I don't think it has a negative affect though.

I agree... I was once reported for answering a question about orgasm, with explicit terms as well as medical terms.... but how do you explain these things without using "explicit" terms???

If you're not comfortable with the topic of sex, then don't venture into questions about it!

sex is a beautiful thing.. at the right age with the right person and state of mind. but it can be a matter of life and death... and it would be wrong to sugar coat.. the results... if you have not taken the proper precautions mentally and physically. even consenting adults.. can end up with a fatal disease.. or health issues . it is sad... when children try to rush into situations they are not readly for... and can be scarred for the rest of their lives. i think there are other areas of yahoo answers..that show..how wonderful.. sex can be.. as far as i am concerned everyone should be careful.

In many places A 10 year old can give you a violation notice for being off topic. In health, it includes sexual health so questions and answers are screened differently
