What are some side effects of smoking cigarettes for young female teens?

More of physical and mental effects, not so much as health effects. My younger sister is 14 and is sadly trying to smoke cigarettes. She knows the health issues but thinks she'll be okay so I want to warn her about all the other risks. Can someone tell me some of these physical/mental risks or just give me a place where i can find them?

Boys think that it is cool, so if she wants to be popular...smoke away, it's cool!

smoking is not good. really! cigarettes contain more than 6000 different types of toxic (only in minute amount). it is true. no joke. it affects almost every aspect of one's life.

be happy. enjoy life without that cigarettes. ok? ^_^

I had a friend who was thinking of doing marijuana. Well, thinking may not be the best choice of words there.
Anyway, I went to the police station and they were happy to give me some pamphlet type thingies and information on what drugs including tobacco can do.

just let her smoke, its her choice.
if you tell her not to, she will probably smoke more.

The biggest problem with getting young people to quit smoking is they cannot envision the future health consequences. They think that lung cancer is a million years from now. So, I think that the best way to get her to stop is to appeal to her vanity. Smoking gives you yellow teeth, makes you smell bad, and makes your skin leathery. Also, lots of guys won't date a smoker because no one wants to kiss an ashtray.

No matter what age you are, you be facing with the same risk as the adult smokers.

Here are some links:

Stinking breath and clothes. Early wrinkles and age spots. Addiction. Being looked down on as being 'low class.' Spending money on an expensive bad habit. Burning holes in your clothes. Having problems getting pregnant when you're married and having babies with birth defects.

Well it's an addiction so she'll have severe mood swings if she doesn't have one, and the longer she smokes the harder it will be to quit. However, that's nothing to the physical side effects. Cancer, lung and heart disease, lack of energy, and permanent damage to almost every system in the body. Also tell her how she is harming other people. Go over how dangerous second hand smoke is to innocent bystanders its one thing to kill yourself but by smoking you take other people with you.

i started smoking when i was like 16 and i am now 25...i dont think there are any mental side effects....the physical gross stuff is that your teeth turn extremely yellow to the point where you are embarassed to smile no matter how many times you brush them...you hair and clothes will smell like an old wet stale cigarette...your fingers and finger nails will turn a dull yellow...you get sore throats and chest congestion all trhe time and your breath smells like an old dirty ashtray...which doesnt work too well in the dating department....it is not worth it and everyday i wished i would have never started smoking

Some guys refuse to date women that smoke cigarettes. They make your clothes stink and your teeth yellow. It also causes gum disease. Only insecure kids smoke to try to look cool, It's an insecurity stick that says poor me, I'm such a geek that I have to smoke to show everyone I'm a badass. It causes premature aging of facial skin.

you smell like an ashtray, you can get all kinds of lung afflictions, everybody around you smells like an ashtray, it takes years off your life, and gives you more wrinkles, it robs your body of Vitamin C, and it is so addictive. Even if you decide you don't want to smell like an ashtray, and you don't want to get sick.....you don't want to stop because you enjoy it. Try not to get hooked on smokes. It's a hard habit to break.

Bad skin, bad breath--clothes will really stink and nothing will cover that smell. Plus all the trouble in getting them. She's too young to buy and if she's sneaking from parents they will notice. A lot of guys don't like to kiss a girl that smells or tastes like an ashtray. If she gets hooked, then the mental stress of not being able to smoke when she needs one is horrible. If none of this helps, tell the parents. Better a mad sister than a dead one. Good luck with this. Glad you are a concerned sister.

It will turn her teeth brown, her breath will STINK!! It's expensive as all get out (almost $5 a pack--that's 20 cigarettes). I don't know anyone who thinks smoking is COOL anymore. Good luck....

My grandfather's dying words (he was a 5 pack a day smoker) were..."God, I wish I had a cigarette." He couldn't have one because he was hooked up to oxygen.

Included in the dangers of smoking include acquiring certain heart diseases. When one consumes a pack of cigars each day, eventually, there will be an increase on the average blood pressure, that may even occur undetected by your doctor. Cancer, meanwhile, is also an effect of too much smoking. Researchers have pointed out the substantial role of excessive smoking in acquiring lung and other certain chronic diseases. Also, pneumonia, emphysema, and bronchitis are also among the probable risks in smoking.

On the other hand, when a woman is pregnant and she frequently smokes, carbon monoxide and nicotine can be transferred to the baby. The baby inside a woman's womb is deprived of the nutrients and oxygen it needs. Thus, it could further lead to premature birth, underweight when born, and fetal injury. Also, the nicotine in cigarettes can also be transferred to a baby by means of breastfeeding.

Not only for female teens, but everyone. Smoking WILL NOT make you cool! No matter what all of the so caled cool people say. Also try to explain $3.00 a day for 1 year is $1,095.00, 5 years $5,475.00 you can do the math from here. I also is not as easy to quit than you may think. I work with someone who has been smoking for thiry years and knows how bad it is and says every day "I need to quit smoking, but I can't"
