Circumcision. Health. NHS.?

Obviously the NHS only circumcises for health reasons. Would they do it for mental health reasons? I have things that can only be slightly hidden by the use of laser treatment, bet that would cost a bomb. But if i had the snip i'd be fine. These things mentally are destroying me, holding me back and in general have helped ruin my life, one of the main causes of teen depression for myself a while ago. I've looked at private costs, 拢750-拢1500, thats ridiculous.

Before you start bombarding with the "dont do it man" stuff i have searched and read dozens of the threads on here, the pro's the cons, the people with good experiences, bad ones, i've looked on other forums, i've looked on websites, i understand it, from a personal point of view the postives out way the negatives.

Before you say go ask the doctor, i'm currently building my confidence up to be able to put my cock on his desk and talk, as i'm not strong enough yet i've come on here for early advice and if anyone can answer

no Mike H, its things on it that can only be removed through expensive private laser treatment, my labido works fine other than this appearance which is the mental block.

I think if your "problem" really is causing serious mental problems then they might "fix" it somehow on the NHS. You will have to see the doctor. But seeing as you haven't said what it is, I don't know if it's something "legitimate", or if you just have heightened cosmetic/self-esteem issues. Personally if I was with a guy with a funny foreskin I wouldn't care, unless he was growing like hair and nails on it or something.

Circumsision is being done less these days. My daughter decided not to circumsize her son because her hubby's not. And I know a couple other moms who have elected not to do it either. But, everyone has their reasons. If you feel mind set on it, call doctors on the phone..cold calling, it's called. Ask questions. Set up appt. if you want. And go from there.

You can get 'cosmetic' procedures on the NHS if it can be proven that the condition is causing you considerable mental distress.

This would need the lengthly intervention of a psychiatrist and is notoriously difficult to prove.

I honestly think it would be better for you to go private and have the procedure done. I would recomend the Harley Medical Group - I think they also offer finance but check.

I'm not sure whether NHS would cover it or not. Generally, I think they only cover it for physical reasons. There could be a case made for psychological reasons provided you have documented history of obsession about it and psychological attempts to get past it. So if you haven't talked to a shrink about it, I don't think they'll just say ok and take your word for it.

I wish I could say more, but until you talk about it with the doc it's all just hypothetical. And you know, you don't have to pull it out on a first visit...you can just sit in an office and talk it over. Talking about one's dangly bits is never much fun, but once you get past that I'm guessing you'll make real progress. Good luck.

Yes, they do do operations like circumcisions if they believe it is causing psychological/physical damage or would be beneficial. They even do things such as botox for the armpits if the person sweats alot on the NHS.

When you decide to talk to you're doctor, don't be worried, trust me, they deal with a number of health conditions and should make you feel comfortable talking about your problem.
If you're not completely comfortable talking about the matter face-to-face, you could talk to them on the phone, email them or take a letter along with you to the consultation. From experience I can tell you how much better you'll feel once you get this off your chest. Your doctor may even be able to suggest an alternative treatment.
Good luck!

Wait, so having your penis in tact, the way you were born and the way God made you, is destroying you mentally? I don't understand that.

The doc won't care about your penis, its size or whether you get an erection etc. He's seen hundreds before you.

Edit: Okay so you have a medical problem with your foreskin? If thats the case then I can understand why you want to get it removed. Email me if you want to talk about it more :-)

By any means, Circumcision in totally un-natural.
It is done for the sole purpose of some strange religious believes, like Jewish in example.

Non Jewish people who circumcise their children are committing a serious mistake. I wish it was a crime of mutilation.
Who say the kids WANT to be circumcised ?

I have to admit and say I am confused by your posting.

Please bring yourself to go see your doctor, tell them how you feel and allow them to check it over. I am sure if you discuss this and stress to your doctor just how this 'situation' is affecting your life then it will be done on the NHS. You must be sincere about it - if your Doctor suggests seeing a specialist/counsellor don't be offended by it, take up the offer because that can also help you and your Doctor will then take you more seriously.

You should be able to get it done on the NHS but the 'mental health' route can be slow and intimidating.
The best bet to have it done quickly is to convert to Islam as they will help fund your circumcision.

yes I was in the same situation. I went to a shrink and he gave me a letter to my GP to be circumcised. You are at the stage now that you will not be pleased by anaything else. It boggles your mind all the time. Just in case you havn't seen it here is one more web site that helped me.
