TAY SACHS Disease. good one for Doctor Frank?

hiya all you budding docs and Dr Frank ! can anyone tell me if the faulty gene that causes Tay Sachs occurs in meiosis or mitosis. hope i've spelt that properly! i'm waiting for info from genetic unit at B'ham hosp but need to write essay. can anyone help ??

the reason i asked was because i could not find the information and i was waiting for a reply from the genetics unit at B'ham hosp. climb down from your high horse!

tay sach is an hederitary disease. both parents should have the bad gene for the tay sach to give it to their child. a parent negative for TS (A) and a parent positive (a) will have a child Aa, that will be normal. both parents (a) (a) will have a child aa, that will have the disease. is more meiosis, bcz is how the gamets are formed and how the genes are transmited to the offspring

Sorry but I think homework questions should be researched rather than answered by someone else, it really is a sort of plagiarism. When I was a lad it was much more difficult, we had to go to the library and get a book, and sometimes it was out. Now you have it relatively easy all you need to do is google it!

You get 1/2 million sites http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/dispo...
seems a good entry point!
