How many children are born each year in the uk with tay sachs disease?

i cannot find any facts or figures with regards to the number of sufferers born each year in the UK. can anyone help?

Rare in the UK (can't find any numbers!) - 1 in 360,000 live births worldwide, so probably less than 1000 each year.

Can't find any actual figures. Try contacting climb - here's the link. They may be able to help, or put you in touch with whoever can:

Tay Sachs is rare in the UK - 1 in 360,000 live births worldwide. The incidence is decreasing in affected populations due to screening. The genetic basis is autosomal, recessive inheritance with 1 in 30 Ashkenazi Jews carrying the gene. Moroccan Jews may be at increased risks. There are also isolated populations with increased risk around the world.
