Tattoos on Guys? Yes or No?

I've spent 9 years as a commissioned military officer and during that time i've aquired several tattoos which now extend from just above my elbows to my shoulders. This was the standard in the environment that I lived in, and actually earned you respect among your men as you being, "One of the Guys", and not simply a dork who finished college and was handed the right to lead others. It helps to have their respect when giving orders which involve their lives.

So, i'm now leaving the service and have accepted employment as a senior project manager with large company in Tennessee. Since I will likely be many miles from the culture that I have lived for so long I am curious about the general (female) concensus on tattoos. Have I gone overboard or is this not so much of a big deal in your, a civilian womans, eyes.

I think tattoos are sexy (from Tennessee too) alot of the girls around here have problems with it but I think if you cover them with clothes when you meet the girl then later on she'll be able to accept it because she likes you.

I like guys with tattoos, my husband has a full sleeve and is working on the other. Of course you will find some women who don't care for them at all.

Most women now a days love tattoo. Alot of women have them but they are hidden. So I honestly feel like people are okay wioth it now

Well I think it depends on your body type. If u have a scrawny body with a tattoo then Id on't think it would look good. It u arekind of muscular and ave a tatto then it could look good on u. My husband is a Marine and has no tattoos but I think with his body type he would look good with one.

i dont focus as much on tattoos as i do the person. I have two myself. I look at them like a window in a persons life. each one has there own story and feelings they represent. I wouldn't want to be with a person if they didn't get that aspect of the tattoos because that would me they would never accept ur past.

Tattoos look lovely in my opinion, I do not like nipple rings though, if you have them, it sepends what your tattoos are of, like do they have a meaning behind of them.and are they good quality ones. If they aren't done well then people won't like them.

Dude; you can never have too many heck often I think you can't have enough. I only have 5 and want 5 more. They are all in places that are visible but when searching for employment I simply covered up. Some people dont know who you are on the inside but do judge you for your tatts. Its crazy but that is the harsh reality of our world. I personally love a man with tatts but only if they aren't all on his face. That is where I draw the line and it begins to be borderline creepy!

i dont really like them. i like them when people are young but just think when your old youd be all wrinkly with a tattoo.. its just weird i think

I guess I am skin illustration blind the way Stephen Colbert is (self-allegedly) color blind. I don't see such things as tatoos and piercings when the personality behind them is strong and interesting. Sometimes, however, I think people are "fighting the outfit; and the outfit is winning."

i think its unprofessional on most men, however as long as your not wearing clothes to continuously expose you tattoos, i dont think they should be a problem.
also i consider myself very conservative, but i think that tattoos on someone who has served in the military is pretty socially acceptable

defenetly a yes. here's why;

tattoos tell a story about a person. about their past, values, opinions, experiences, etc. (unless you got a tattoo cuz it "looks cool" in which case i wouldnt come near you)

tattoos make a person stand out and they're damn sexy.

while you're at it grow a beard and get some piercings haha. i wont mind.

I personally think that tattoos are tacky.

I'm sure most women will tell you that they like them and they might even think they're sexy.

However, I never cared for tattoos on anyone, male or female. I don't like how they look. I always wonder how a person with a tattoo will feel when they get older?

When it comes to appearance, I like change and tattoos are way too permanent.

That being said, who cares what any of us thinks. The woman you'll be with is going to love you for who you are - and you sound intelligent and nice!
