How have your children reacted to your tattoos?

I don't have any children, but I'm wondering how they react to their parents' tattoos....

My son was freaking hilarious after I got mine. I didn't show it to him until it healed, because he is very sensitive and sympathetic and I didn't want him to worry. He was almost three at the time. When I did show him, he was amazed, but not like you would think. My husband has tattoos on his arms, and mine is on my lower back. Andrew (my son) just assumed everyone has one somewhere. Since he can't see them on his arms, he assumed his was on his back like mine... So he went around for the next month lifting the back of his shirt and showing everyone "his butterfly."

Mine laughed.....they could care less what mom does!

they will ask hey dad i love your elepant there..lol

jk!

I have two boys. They love that I have a tattoo. They were the ones to encourage me to get one in the first place. They both went to the tattoo shop with me to get it done and then they wanted one too. They were impressed that I didn't even bat an eye when they started putting it on my wrist.

I don't have any children but i do work with them and when they saw one of my tattoos the were fascinated with it and wanted to touch it.LOL

Well I wasn't a little kid anymore, but I was shocked when my dad got his first tattoo. I just never expected him to get one. And it didn't stop at just one. I think he has about 6 or 7 now.

my children are all grown, and they were in awe, i didn't tell them before hand, just showed up with them all done on my legs. it was funny!!

They are the ones who talked me into getting one - they have more than I do

When I was 19 I got a tattoo of my daughters name with a pink heart down by my pelvic area to "remember" my efforts hee hee. I was planning on doing this for every child I had. Well I had two more and I never have gotten the other two. My 5 year old tries to "wash it off" when we are in the shower. She has done this since she was 3 at least. It is funny. She is just trying to figure out how it got "in" my skin.

I've got 3 teen girls and just recently got my first 2 tattoos. My girls think it's pretty cool actually. Of course, my husband is tattooed from his head to his feet so my kids are used to tats.

My kids don't care at all. Might be different if they were scary looking.

People use to get tattoos to be different...

Now it's the people without tattoos that are different...

Children may grow up conditioned to seeing tattoos and not think much about it.

Some children are probably frightened of them especially if the picture is evil or strange looking, ugly.
They probably wonder why someone would do that to themselves.

I personally really dislike tattoos of any kind. The human body and the skin covering it is such a miracle. Why ruin something that is so incredible with a man-made ink injected picture or word.
It isn't natural.

I got my first tattoo when my son was 2. He never really noticed that one since it is on my shoulder blade. Then I got a second one on my lower back about a year later. He did notice that one and of course was curious. He kept wanting to look at it. He would say "look mommy! A sun!!" Now he rarely ever mentions it. My husband (his daddy) also has 3 tattoos. But my son never says anything about his. When kids are young they don't really care. They just see tattoos as pretty pictures. But when they become teenagers, mom getting a tattoo and never having one before is a little weird. But dad getting one is never really seen as odd to a kid no matter what age.

My son...... when he noticed my tattoo for the first time( 3 years old about 4 months ago now) which is on my back , right above my shoulder blade area , a tiny one really. He said" Mommy you have a flower on your back" I replied yes I do it's a wild iris. he just said WOW ! Bootiful. And pushed on it to see if it was real I guess, when the husband came home later in the day my son said "mommy has a flower on the back, see.... show dad your flower momma" I just laughed. Husband acted surprised and said" WOW" nice mommy. (My husband does not have a tattoo, doesn't like them he said.) I know he likes mine though = )

One of my sons 1st words was tattoo...lol when he was a little younger he drew on his arms and used a lot of temp tattoos (arms, neck, etc...lol) Now he is 10 and he says he isnt sure if he will ever get one and thats fine with us... my daughter is too young for an opinion but she meows and tries to kiss my hello kitty zombie tattoo that I have on my forearm... My friends kids have always known me with tattoos so it makes no difference to them....
