MRI's and tattoos?

I hurt my lower back 6 months ago. At that time I got a MRI. couple weeks later I started to notice some symptoms that were unusual for me. Fatigue, mood swings, memory loss and personality changes (depression). None of them were really severe. 6 weeks ago I reinjured my back and got another MRI. Since then these symptoms have gotten a lot worse. I have a tattoo on my back and the ink is magnetic due to the metals in it. My question is this- since i was laying on my back for the MRI, is it possable that the magnetic pull from the MRI pulled the metals from my tattoo into my body causing lead poisoning? All of the symptoms that I have can be caused by lead poisoning and they didnt start until the first MRI and got worse after the second. Any ideas? Got an appointment in a few days with doctor to go over these symptoms and wanted to get other peoples opinions before I went. Dont want to sound stupid if I bring this up to the doctor and its not even possable.

who told you that tattoo has metals in it? and if the tattoo is made of "lead," it is not magnetic, because only iron can respond to magnetic field

and if tattoo has lead in it, you would have lead poison symptoms as soon as you got to the tattoo, lead can leak to the body thru blood, etc

MRI is mostly safe, it has nothing to do with tattoos, etc

what you have seem to be psychological, not actual physical

that is total insanity

no such thing as a stupid question when it comes to your health care. i have not heard of this happening but you never know. i would just ask him and see what he says. dont ever be afraid to ask questions. good luck

Sounds pretty out there to me! Otherwise they wouldn't let people with tattoo's have MRI's.

It sounds more like maybe your back injury is the cause. Do you have a herniated or bulged disk that could be pressing on your spinal cord at all? Or even going into the spinal fluid?

No, I don't think it is your tattoo. Perhaps it is caused by the injury that is a more likely cause.
