Can people with tattoos still be an organ donor? |
I heard that if you have any type of tattoo (big or small) you can't be an organ donor. you can, so long as you didnt get aids or something from getting your tattoo (which is totally unlikely if you went to a clean place). Why wouldn't they be able to be an organ donor because of a tattoo? That's ridiculous. Somebody's been pulling your leg. yes you can be a organ donor if you have a tatoo yes but the orgens would have to be clean(as in no type of sickness) That is dumb. I never heard of something so ridiculous. U can be an organ donor if u have tatoos. U can donate blood if u have tattoos. You can still be an organ donor even if you a tattoo i have three tattoo i big tattoo and two small ones and i donated blood they haven't turned me away. You're more likely to be infected with hep C if you've had tattoos. Nowadays they test for it before donations of blood or organs, but back in the old days there was no test. For someone needing organs or blood, a hep C infection can kill them since their immune system, is practically nonexistent as is. Interesting your question should come up today as I was watching a TV programme last night about donating skin to burn victims when you die and the lack of donors. I am heavily tattooed and thought I would want to donate my skin, I am already a body organ donor on my drivers license, I think it would be a shame to turn down something that is such high demand because it is coloured...some people might even prefer pre-tattooed skin lol. May be the ink in the skin could cause problems to the new person...I' don't know, if its just a values thing then it sucks. i have a tattoo and i'm an organ donor Someone is not very well informed!
