Tanning!!!!?

so i want to go tanning with a bunch of my friends before homecomming... in a few weeks... we have been talking about it and when to go and everything and i have the money there is just one probley... i have a mole on my chest and i just recientally started to see that it is not normal... i have a halo when if you dont know what tha tmeans it basically means that a small ring around the mole does not tan... i am a camp councelor and i started to realize it when i was outside all day... and i have an apointment to have it removed the doctor said it was not dangers in anyway but i want it removed because i dont like the way it looks... but i dont have an appointment for like 2 months... and i am goin tanning soon... do you think that the tanning beds would effect it any... i mean becides it not gettin tan around it but like medically do you think it will be harmful????

You're fine, what are are talking about is the pigmentation of the skin. The mole and the surrounding area most likely has a different pigment color and lack of melanin (chemical released by your body that allows you to tan) which is the reason it won't tan. Some people have the opposite problem where they have melanin deposits so an area of their skin tans a lot more than the rest (I have one myself).

I don't recommend tanning beds for any long term use because of the risk of skin cancer. For one dance, you'll be fine.

No, you will be fine! tanning may give you more moles though. I hve more on my stomach thanks to tanning. I stopped tanning though after i really researched the dangers. Good luck, I think it will be fine! Good idea to get it removed even though it isnt a dangerous one. Keep your eye on it, if it changes in anyway go to the DR. immediately

Come on, you are asking a question about something that could potentially be skin cancer and you want to know if tanning would be ok with this mole!!! Do you realize how bad for you a tanning bed is, it is actually stronger than the sun's rays. DO NOT GO TANNING!!!

If the doctor said it's not harmful then no. I would think if it's not melanoma or any other kind of skin cancer or growth, then you should be able to tan. Then once you have it removed you won't have to worrk about it anymore.

But you need to ask if the halo is gonna stay there, I mean are you still gonna have a white ring even after the mole is gone?

My answer: I think u should be fine to tan!

I wouldn't go to the tanning bed!

Instead, spend some time outside every weekend before homecoming. Or even better, get a spray tan. I got one for prom, it was great.

Try a spray tan

I had a mole that was the same way. My dermatologist removed it and thank god it wasn't skin cancer. And I have another one that I didn't get removed. If your doctor said it wasn't an issue I would not worry. I have went to a tanning bed a couple of times and had no problems. I use "Halo" by Designer Skin it has a spf of 2 and it works great. Also I put a tanning sticker over the mole I didn't have removed. I think using tanning beds in moderation is the main thing.

you could get a mistic tan then theres no UV rays and it wont have any chance of hurting it. plus it might even tan the halo part since its a spray on.
