Tanning in a tanning bed???

I am SOO white, and I don't tan outside easily. I don't want to be a bronze tan, just a normal/base tan. I am whiter than most people just like my mom. I want to go tanning, but she won't let me (yet). Are the risks REALLY THAT great by going just a couple times to get a light tan? A ton of my friends do it, and I want to start wearing skirts and shorts, because sports are coming up too, and its so unnatractive being THIS white.

UVA and UVB rays produced by most tanning beds are involved in the development of skin damage that can sometimes lead to skin cancer. UVA rays have a longer wavelength than UVB and are associated with premature wrinkling of the skin which would be a shame for someone as young as you.

If your skin is as white as you say it is, it may take your skin more time to develop enough melanin to produce a visible tan. If you decide to try tanning beds, take it very slow. - just a few minutes each session and don't expect immediate results.

Someone suggested sunless tanners and that's a great start. There are also spray-on tanners that can be applied professionally too. Both of these methods produce the fastest results and are generally considered safer for the long-term.

ohhh, I think cream white girls are cute too.
If you can't get a natural tan like I have, then I guess you can use tanning beds. But be careful with them. After seeing that clip in Final Destination 3, I am wayyy too afraid of them.

maybe a good self tanner at the cosmetics counter might help you out i hear they are much better than they used to be. they also have a spray on tan at the tanning salon. i personally go to the tanning bed started at 5 mins and gradually worked up to 15 i have a pretty good base tan. after a few years of tanning i can honestly say it makes me feel good but does cause premature aging. good luck!!!

The thing is that if you don't tan in the sun, you probably won't tan in a tanning bed.
During the winter, when I am not going to the tanning bed I use natural glow by Jergens. I think that you should try this. It gives you a really nice glowy tan without the hassle of going to the tanning bed. It moisturises your skin instead of drying it out like the tanning bed does. It is a really great alternative.
I wouldn't get a spray tan because they are costlier and turn you orange.
