Tanning bed...do you go? |
It surprises me that after tanning beds have been considered so dangerous because they can cause cancer that people still go. I have never been in a tanning bed and I don't lay out in the sun. I am 29 and have no wrinkles...I have a friend who is 26 and she looks like a 40 year old woman because she tans all the time. I am not sickly pale, I have used self tanners...and had pretty good results but I really don't care for them that much. I don't ever plan on going...I am just curious why people do. i'm 29 and i tan occasionally. However i stay in the sun alot so i don't do the bed much. I take very good care of my skin though. I know the risks that i take when i get into the tanning bed just like everyone else does. To be honest, i can't really understand it. I guess it's kind of like when people smoke, they know that can cause cancer yet they still do it. People just make their choices and have to live with the consequences. I prefer to stay rather than go. It seems like you have already answered you own question in sort of a way. I would not tan a lot - causes you to have wrinkles. Yes I know others that tan. I do not tan personally because I want to take care of my skin and not abuse it. I would not be encouraging anyone in going to a tanning bed teenager or adult I tan once in a while. I used to tan several times a week (years ago) and I don't look old, I am 29 and most people think I am 22-23. I have a friend (29) that tans pretty regularly and she looks like leather. I am 26 and I used to tan when I was first in college. As I was a pre-med major, I quickly learned how bad it is for you. Now if I do tan I use a spray on tan (Mystic tan) and I only do that on special occasions. There is something about breathing in those chemicals from the spray that I am sure is not that good for you. But, I have also noticed how old people look that continually use tanning beds. Esp. women in their 40s. Geez you already look so wrinkled from tanning so much. Why would you keep doing it?? I do tan sometimes but not on a regular basis. Once I get my tan I maintain it by going once every couple of weeks. I look at people who go to tanning beds alot and they have a fake orange tint to them instead of a pretty sunkissed glow. Another good thing to try if you are worried with the beds is the spray tan that a lot of tanning bed places now offer. I had a friend who did that and it looked great on her. |
