Are tanning beds really that bad for you? |
I have been going to a tanning some this year and really like the look of a tan. All my friends go too from time to time. I have been told that moderate tanning is ok. I usually go about 2 time per week. Is that considered moderate? I always practice preventing buning. Actually, anytime you tan, your skin is actually damaged and that's reflected in the dark color of your tan. It's telling you that your skin is damaged. The scary thing is that when you damage your skin with those rays, it messes with your DNA makeup...which in turn produces cancers. You put yourself at an increased risk of skin cancer, even if you dont get a sunburn. Read about it at the website... They say it causes cancer, but doesn't everything these days??? Moderate isn't a bad thing, but don't overdo it. A woman I used to work with tanned all the time, and her skin is ashen and looks like leather. That's way overdoing it!! Use a lot of moisturizers to keep your skin healthy. A very good one I use is Australian Gold Tan Enhancer. It used to be called Australian Gold Moisture Loc. It works great, and you should be able to find it at your tanning salon. well, one can get one's personal business burned that way. better be careful. I can only say that I regret going for tanning sessions some years back. |
