Sinus Tachycardia while pregnant...?

I've been experiencing a racing heart for awhile now since hitting the third trimester. Along with it I have shortness of breath and lightheadedness. It happens in spells, and Anything can set it off, even just sitting on the couch. Can't go shopping anymore because of it. Smallest bit of activity such as shopping makes me feel so weak and unwell and gets my heart racing. I told my OB about it and she dismissed it as anxiety and said she'd refer me to a cardiologist if I'd like peace of mind. Of course I said Yes. So I went to the cardiologist. Turns out I have Sinus Tachycardia and a slight mumor. I never had either of these before so of course I'm scared. He made me wear a 24 monitor and I will get an echocardiogram done on Feb 5th, and I'll get my results from that on the Feb 11th.

Was wondering if anyone here had Sinus Tachycardia with a past pregnancy and if it resolved itself after delivery. I can't imagine how life will be for me if this turns out to be permanent.

Of course I can't get pregnant but it sounds as you might have a mitral valve prolapse. This, of course, is just a guess. If you do, it would explain the tachycardia, murmur, and weakness. The cardiologist can do an echocardiogram and tell if he feels its warranted.

If you've never had this problem before, and it was precipitated by the pregnancy, the symptoms could resolve after delivery. However; a prolapse will not go away. It is most common in women and can go unnoticed for years.

I found several sites for u to read up on. i believe most of them say it resolves itself. The best way to handle it for now is to find a technique that will help reduce the "spell" when it happens.

the murmur has probably always been there, just noticeable now. A large amount of people go through life not knowing they have one till they are diagnosed with something else. I would just wait to see what the ECG shows on the 11th. A lot of people are affected with sinus tachycardia and it turns out to be nothing. Hopefully that will be your case! God bless u and your baby with good health!

Ok, Breathe. Sinus tachycardia is a fancy term for a fast heart rate. It's not a disease, it's usually a symptom of something, in your case it may be because of hormone changes or the increased blood volume due to pregnancy. Granted, it's not the greatest thing to have any problems during pregnancy, this is not going to kill you or your kid. Millions of people have murmurs and never know it until they get checked, some go away on their own, and yours might once you have your child.
