What are these heart conditions: tricuspid atrisia and super ventricle tachycardia? |
My late husband had tricuspid atrisia. My son was recently treated for super ventricle tachycardia. My father and daughter have also been diagnosed with the latter. In the case of my children, are the two connected? Tricuspid atresia is when the tricuspid valve doesn't form properly. The tricuspid valve is the valve in the Right side of the heart between the atrium (top chamber) and ventricle (bottom chamber). If the valve does not form at all, blood gets shunted from the right side of the heart to the left side, thereby bypassing the lungs. This is repaired by surgery as a baby, I believe. (You can't live with blood bypassing the lungs.) ventricular tachycardia? This is a condition in which the ventriclur part of the heart beats fast. This can be caused by many conditions, such as damage to the mitral valve, continued high blood pressure, etc. I have provided a link to a great site for you to read all about it. Good luck. i dont know much about specifics but tricuspid atrisia is when the tricuspid valve of the heart doesnt form right, and supraventricular tachycardia (its called SVT a lot, do a search on "SVT" or "supraventricular tachycardia" - check on sites like webmd.com, ehealth.com and medline.com) is a rapid heart beat that starts in the upper part of the heart |
