TB test question...?

I had a TB test last Monday, and it was read last Thursday. The reading was negative, but I have a red mark on my forearm that is slightly raised, does this mean that I have TB or is it something else? I had a TB test done at this exact same time last year, and the mark went away after the first day. Whats up?

Your doctor will measure the mark on your forearm. If it is bigger than 15mm, then you might have TB. Don't worry so much.. go to your doctor and see what he says.. If you are still in doubt, you can consult a respiratory specialist..

Good Luck.. :-)

HTH..

If a dr. or his designated representative said it was negative then it most likely was.

If it were positive, it just says that you have been exposed to TB not that you nessisaraly have TB.

trust the nurses. they know what they are looking for in a positive test. you don't have tb.

Sometimes the vaccine may varie slightly and it may have irritated your skin. If it was read negative, then it is negative. The red mark will go away.

I have read some abstracts that discussed positive PPD results when re-read after six or seven days, particularly in some southeast asian ethnic groups. How many actual studies, type of studies, and such I don't know.

Call your doc and ask. If he sounds as if he knows his stuff, accept it. If in doubt follow up with your health department.
