I have a rare spinal chord disease called syringomyelia. What are some ways to find relief from the pain? Anti convulsants relieve pain especially in the spinal region by placing a coat of sodium around the nerve areas blocking pain. See your GP and ask which one is the most useful. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do for SM, besides life-long pain meds and/or extremely risky surgery, depending on where exactly the CS-fluid-filled cyst is located. I would recommend you talk to a good neurosurgeon...Philadelphia is the mecca for neurosurgery, and all the best docs are at the Rothman Institute of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital...I would recommend going to see someone there, I know they'd be able to help you. |
