Syphilis? I'm scared?

Well I went to the gyno today because I had BV and wanted to get some medicine so it would go away. Well while she was looking I told her about how it sometimes would be sore on the right side of my vagina when I started to have sex. Not really that much pain but I have had it for a few months and its starting to get annoying, well she looked and found this blister/sore type thing and said it looked like I might have syphilis. The thing is, I have only had one sex partner and we've been together sexually for over year so why would I just now see this? And I have never noticed anything on him before and he has said that he has gotten tested for anything and come back fine. My doctor told me that from what I said it probably isnt syphilis but still is gonna take a test, and if its negative she'll just do a biopsy and told me not to worry. But I still am really scared. Could it just be a sore from having sex or something that never healed? Anyone ever had anything like this? Thanks

First off, Syphilis is 100% curable. However, if it turns out you do have syphilis you need to have a very stern conversation with your partner. But like many STDs a person can carry a disease and not have symptoms for quite some time. That being said, I had a doc send me to a specialist over something she thought was an STD, that turned out to be a very normal vaginal variation. She's just being on the safe side. It's good that you mentioned it to her. And unless you've been doing some pretty wild things in bed, it's not likely to be a sore resulting from sex play.

does worrying about it and getting scared do you any good at all? I doubt it. Wait for the test results before you get worried and fly off the handle. In the meantime, remain celibate (no sex) until you know the results and have a plan of action for treatment of whatever it is that is the problem. As for the possibility of syphilis, it could be, and if your boyfriend was tested, ask to see the results, many will say that and it isn't actually true, it will be like he was tested for one thing but not all things, or he just lied to get what he wanted from you. At any rate, if he is your only partner, the only place you could have gotten it was from him, end of story. Still, you don't know what it is YET. Stay cool until those test results come back and the doctor calls you in to discuss them.
