Syphilis question?

I'm awaiting for the test results, but the waiting is killing me already.
Three days ago I had what looked like the beginning of a pimple on the shaft of my member, (a little bump) so like an idiot I tried to pop it.
Next thing I knew there was a small, closed sore. It doesn't look like any of the pics of syphilis or any other STD I've seen, but the doc wanted me tested anyway.
I also have a groin lymph node that's swollen.
I've only had sex with one person in the last 10 years, so I don't think it's an STD.
The only symptoms I'm showing is a laceration-like sore, not the open "crater" like the photos I've seen, and a swollen groin lymph node.)
Is it possible that the "pimple" just got infected and that's why the lymph node freaked out?

Ok, this is going to sound completely stupid...but my boyfriend had a similar experience a few weeks ago and we both freaked out and rushed to the doctor to get checked. Turned out it was an infected, ingrown hair from him shaving down there! So, depending on the location (his was close to the base), that could be the problem...good luck!
