How can you treat the symptoms of Gilbert's Syndrome? |
I am a 30 year old male and was recently diagnosed as having Gilbert's Syndrome. After doing some research i discovered that it is relatively common with the majority of people only getting very minor symptoms. However, i either get more severe symptom or it is someting else altogether. I get bad stomach pains which i have been in hospital for twice and both times i have been sent home being told there is nothing they can do for except give me pain killers. Apparentl a very small percentage of sufferers get these stomach pains, so it could be that or i have been told it could be a rumbling appendix, and have nothing at all to do with Gilberts. After lots of tests, x-rays and ultra sound i am now on the waiting list to have my appendix removed. A friend i have told me he used to get the exact same symptoms and after having his appendizx removed he no longer has this problem, so i am hoping that is what it is. Anyway, if you also have Gilberts, do you also get these pains? to kdj hudson, i know that gilberts is usually very mild, but i have heard and my doctor verifies this, that more severe cases can include stomach pains, hence his being skeptical that it was my appendix playing up, but he unsure either way. It may not have anything to do with Gilbert's Syndrome as this syndrome is so mild that it is hardly treated medically even the jaundice that it causes is often mild and goes away on its own,you may need to avoid situations that causes stress and try your best to avoid infections as it raises bilirubin levels and this may cause jaundice to act up,avoid situations that may cause you to catch the flu or a cold.Health tips to help our problem is to drink eight glasses of water per day and eat raw, green, leafy vegetables and whole grains.GOOD LUCK, PRAYER IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ALSO!!!! I quote "If you're distressed by jaundice, the barbiturate medication phenobarbital may reduce bilirubin levels." |
