Who do I contact about Lamictal causing a syncope?

Lamictal is med. prescribed for bipolar disorder.... a syncope is a word for fainting. I faint because of an arrythmia that is directly caused by discontinuing the Lamictal. Who do I tell about this? (aside from my doctor, I dont see him for a week and I want to know who to call now)

also: I have been seeing a cardiologist. I am asking who do I notify so someone who works for the company knows that this happens and investigates the cause.

Did you stop the Lamictal abruptly? Did your Doctor tell you to stop it abruptly?

Discontinuation of Lamictal should be done by decreasing the dose by about 50% per week over at least 2 weeks, unless concerns for the patient's safety require a more rapid withdrawal.

Does anyone have info that links acquired arrythmia to sudden stop of Lamictal? A friend has inexplicable arrythmias. He nearly faints many times a day and the only link I know is medication - he is on many drugs - Depakote, Neurontin, Vicodin and Lexapro, but was taken off Lamictal suddenly Report It

You should contact your doctor ASAP. The arrythmia was caused by discontinuing the med? I took lamictal and it made me feel dizzy like that...but never bad enough to pass out. Oh yeah..if you are passing out because of the arryth. them you should for sure contact your doc asap. I have an arrythmia that causes my heart rate to go above 200 at times and I pass out...its and electrical misfire in my heart. I take 2 different meds daily to keep it under control. Good luck to you!

You can call your doctor's office if you have a concern, you don't have to wait for an appoinment. A syncopal attack is not something to make light of.
On the other hand not all fainting is syncope. It is specific for one that is caused by a heart problem. You said that developed an arrhythmia. An arrhythmia that causes syncope is an arrhythmia that can also kill you. So if you had one, I advise you to go to the doc ASAP.
If your doc warned you about the possibility of an arrhythmia when you stop taking Lamictal, then the manufacturer should already know.
