Swollen Glands (Painful!)?

How do you make swollen glands go away faster? I have been sick for the past 2 weeks, which is a while, and went to the hospital, and the doctor said that I would be better soon, and that it was just a cold. Well, 3 days ago, my glands started swelling rapidly (it felt like it was bubbling). They chose a very bad place to swell. I now have 2 large lumps under my ears and behind/under the back of my jaw bone. Whenever I chew it hurts like crap. I've lived off water for the past 2 days (no food) and it still hurts. I am on antibiotics (went back to the doctor, he said it was still just a cold), but it doesn't seem to be doing much. I want to eat a hamburger! Or somthing like that. Is there a way to make it un-swell faster? (Is un-swell a word?)

Use some Listerine (swallow a little, it will help). Drink lots of hot tea with lemon and honey. Eat chicken noodle soup. Take vitamins. And rest. You just have to wait for your body to heal itself.

it sounds like you need your tonsils out.

i feel bad for you dude.i unfortunatly dont know but i suggest you get a second opinion from another doctor somewhere else.i have never heard of that from a cold

I know what your going through. I too have got some badly swollen glands at the moment due to some tonsillitis. Water is all that will go down and even that's painful. I have found though that by taking a couple of nurofen plus that the pain becomes more bearable when swallowing, enough to eat some soft foods like soup and bread. But I've scouted around myself for some cures but i haven't found anything.
