Can swollen glands be related to acne?

I am 18 and have had acne for about 4 - 5 years now. I get the normal sized spots & whiteheads now and again on my face (mainly on my chin) and blackheads on my nose, but im not too bothered about those. I do however get painful red lumpy cystic acne on the sides of my neck, around where the corner of my jaw is, on my shoulders and in the middle
of my chest. It seems to be deep, and it can get quite painful at times e.g. when I turn my head.

I have had this for years and I have tried pretty much everything except accutane. Whenever I go to the doctor or the dermatologist they always offer me antibiotics which dont work.

I have noticed that my glands in my neck and jaw area are always swollen. They are almost like the size of marbles.
Could this be related to the problem in any way?

I recently tried water fasting for a few days and I noticed that I didn't get any new spots during that time. My glands also reduced in size a bit. They came back when I stopped though.

Acne is painful when it gets to sensitive areas of the body, but acne doesnt cause the glands to be swollen, it could be an allergic reaction to something http://www.healthy.net/scr/article.asp?I... check this article its quite useful, but if your glands are swollen even when you dont have any acne near them then it might be serious

Most definitely yes if you have cysts or large boils then your body is fighting infection and glands are part of your immune system.Short term stong antibiotics are called for in the first instance and then DEMAND your GP refer you to hospital dermatologist for Roaccutane.(Dont take no for an answer)
Eat lots of vitamin A rich foods one of the main ingredients in Roaccutane.
Zynert lotion can be helpful as well.
