Swimmer's ear or the beginning of an infection?

Ok, so yesterday i went swimming and i got water in my ear, throughout the day it got worse and worse to the point where i cant even hear out of my left ear AT ALL. Ive tried the swimmer's ear drops and that didnt help. I have a bit of ear pain but not some bad that i cant stand it. The inside of my ear itches a bit and it feels very full. So is this just swimmer's ear where it will evantually come out or do you think this is the beginning of an ear infection due to the water not coming out? Also, what can i do for it untill i can get to a doctor or ER? I have a son so its not exactly just pick up and go i have to find a sitter.

If you pull on your earlobe and it hurts, or if you pull on the top of your ear and it hurts, that means you have an inner ear infection.
If your ear itches, be sure not to scratch it, you never want to do that. Also, don't put any cotten swabs or such into your ear in attempts to clean it out, that's bad.
No need for the ER, but you may want to go see a doctor, or, even better, and ear nose and throat specialist, seeing as they tend to know more since it is their specialty. Since you have to find a sitter first, unless the pain is unbearable, you should be fine putting it off a little longer, just be sure not to wait to long, these things just tend to get worse.

karma? twit~ Report It

take you son with you and go to the doctor. do not go to the er unless you want a huge bill just for swimmers ear. if you have ear drops put those along with cotton balls in your ears and that should relieve the pain untill u can see a doctor
