Swimmers Ear (outer ear infection)? |
For about 4 days my pain was severe with swelling in neck and around ear; could not even touch ear ANYWHERE; bad jaw pain; also not getting too much sleep. Now that pain has subsided a bit I find that I also have cheek and temple pain. Just wondering if this was part of swimmers ear? Also wondering when the swelling might go away (seems to be more swollen in morning when I get up). Any help would be appreciated. It sounds like you got yourself a very bad infection! There's a lot of important stuff in the head & neck area, that could be badly messed up if the infection was untreated. You should definitely see a doctor, even if the pain has let up some. Antibiotics. Right now. My friend had an infected salivary gland - her pain and swelling was right where you're describing, and was worse in the morning. She was sick for a couple months, even with the antibiotics. They told her that she could have needed radical neck surgery and might have even lost sensation on one side of her face. This could be serious and you need to have it taken care of. So get to the doctor, even if you need to go to the emergency room. Until you can get there, put hot compresses on it - hot water bottle or hot water on a folded up towel. Sounds like a Dental Abcess,Exposed Nerve,I had one, I know it hurts in those areas. |
