Diabetes and artificial sweeteners? |
have diabetes 2 and it seems that artificial sweeteners like Splenda raises my blood sugar....seems impossible so does anyone have a comment..thanx It shouldn't. take a look at what you are eating with the Splenda. Does it have loads of carbs ? Energy (caloric) content Personaly I would not use any artiffical sweeteners ...there seems to be a cancer connection with long term use ..... That does seem impossible, Splenda is non-nutritive, your body can't digest it. Did you take anything else with the splenda that might have raised your blood sugar. I agree that it depends upon what you are eating the Splenda in or with. Watch those carbs. I agree with the other answerers, Splenda by itself shouldn't raise your blood sugar. I use it and so does my mother, it tastes great and it's as close to sugar, that I have found to still get the desired sweetness. i would think it was what you are adding it to. i have used it for many years and it never has effected my blood sugar well they have never raised my blood sugar but they do have a laxitave effect if you have too much lol just thought id let you know that one for future reference. |
