Question on artificial sweetener Maltitol........?

i just recently bought Chocolate from Costco called

if anyone knows anything about the sweetener and the chocolate, please let me know. i would like to know the pros and cons of the chocolate and if the chocolate is safe to eat.

serious answers please.

and yes i had gastric problems...

Maltitol is a sugar alcohol, an ingredient commonly used in low carb or 鈥渟ugar-free鈥?products such as candy and nutrition bars. It is used so much because of its similarity to sugar in terms of taste, mouthfeel, and interaction with other ingredients. Products which use maltitol and other sugar alcohols as sweeteners can be called 鈥渟ugar-free鈥?

Usually this takes the form of intestinal gas and cramping, but some people may find themselves with diarrhea. If you decide to eat products with maltitol, you鈥檇 be wise to start with a small amount and judge the reaction - as well whether you鈥檒l be in a crowded room a few hours later!

*I'd definitely stay away from it if you've had problems before. If you really want it, try a very small piece and see how it goes.
