Some general symptoms of skin cancer are a mole that's changed - gone red, or black, or bleeding. Or that's gotten larger. Be wary of moles with irregular borders, or are asymmetrical, or are larger than a pencil eraser.

I had one on my leg that was a little pink spot with a crusty area on it. My husband had one on his nose that was a little bump that kept crusting up and bleeding.

Most skin cancer is very treatable. If you suspect something, get it checked early for best results. Good luck!

A mole that suddenly appears out of nowhere:
* Firm
* Reddened
* Nodule or flat growth
* Surface may be scaly or crusted
