Skin & Sun & cancer? |
How does exposure to the sun causes wrinkling? Fair skinned people have fewer melanocytes to protect the deeper layers of tissue, so skin cancers arise more frequently. The skin itself is also thinner, and over time, damage to the underlying collagen (skin's supportive tissue) becomes damaged and allows wrinkles to form. Fair skin contains less melanin. It protects to some extent from sun damage. |
