Could This Be Skin Cancer.?

First off I have to admit that I use tanning beds often, less often now than in year's past, but I still occasionally use them. I have noticed two bumps on my back, it looks like a normal mosquito bite in a way, but they don't itch, and they don't look like skin cancer, that is compared to the pics of skin cancer that I have seen. Could they be skin cancer??

Skin cancers, especially non melanoma skin cancer has dozens of different appearances and most are quite different than the typical pictures you see on the web. As a general rule any sore, even if it just looks like a mosquito bite, that does not heal in a month needs to be evaluated for potential skin cancer. If you are over 50, have had prior skin cancers or just got lots of excess UVA exposure then this time frame needs adjusting down to two weeks. Most early skin cancers are much less prominent than the photos you see on the web because they often use large untreated examples for the photos so the cancer is easy to see.

You might try applying an OTC antibiotic cream to the spots for two weeks while you wait to get in to the dermatologist. Sometimes sores or bumps that look like insect bites are infected follicles that will clear with topical antibiotics.

Probably not but you can never be too careful with cancer so i would go have it checked out. It is worth the peace of mind and no matter what normal non doctor people tell you you will still have the question in the back of your mind.

It's always a bad idea to try diagnose any serious disease on the web. It is easy to convince ourselves of anything. If you are genuinely worried, see your doc. I have a lump on each leg just above my knees - they are hard ball bearing sized cysts that are nothing to worry about. But like I said, if you are at all concerned see you doc.
