Does the sun cause skin cancer or do sunscreens cause skin cancer?

If the sun causes skin cancer, wouldn't people in hot climates like Africa and India - which includes fair skinned people - have skin cancer? It only seems to happen when they come to a country where people use sunscreen. Are there any studies or just 'coverups'?

No, the sun does NOT cause cancer. Sunbaths have been part of healing regimens for years.
The important thing is not to get burnt - but build up exposure gradually. "The Sun cannot cause cancer. If cancer is already in the bloodstream and body, the sun can ripen it and bring it to the surface, but that is the only way skin cancer can result from the sun". {Dr. J.R. Christopher - Herbal Home Health Care}
Improper diet and lack of exercise leading to an anaerobic acidic environment in the body is what causes cancer.
Sunscreens can block the pores which are one avenue for the body to eliminate toxins. Strange chemicals in our food and environment can also have toxic effects on the body. It isn't just that these people come to countries that use sunscreen, it is differences in diet that are adopted. The further you get from wholesome raw foods in their natural state, to overly processed, chemically altered junk - the more you set yourself up for abnormalities such as cancer.

Don't u know, everything cause's skin cancer.

People in Africa and India have darker skin, which means they have more melanin (sp?) which is a "natural" sunscreen. Here, people are finally wising up and using sunscreen, but when people were into baking in the sun, more health maladies were present.

If your out in the sun and NOT using sunscreen u have a higher risk of getting skin cancer. Sun screen protects against skin cancer.

people do get skin cancer in those places, however since most of the people there do not have fair skin, the sun doesn't really affect them all that much. Sunscreen definitely does not cause skin cancer... and i know this because i myself have quite fair skin, and sunscreen prevents burns, and therefore prevents skin cancer. It's just one of those obvious facts of life...

Dark skinned people rarely get skin cancer which is caused by the sun. It usually affects fair skinned people.

Natures,

I think neither. I think some folks are more predisposed to contracting cancers than others.

I question the intelligence of anyone who stays out in the sun and burns themselves repeatedly...sunscreen or no. Folks who must be in these environments usually dress for the occasion so that they are well protected.

It's the government. They are the ones who control everything. You can get cancer from using your computer too. Are you going to stop? Probably not. Are you going to stop breathing our polluted air so as not to get lung cancer? Nope. Are you going to become a hermit so as not to try and get skin cancer? I'm betting no. What doesn't cause cancer? I quit worrying about it. I wear a fisherman's hat and some overalls if I'm going to be outside long. What's sunscreen? Screw the government.

the sun does cuz of the rays the sunscreen blocks the rays that cause the cancer

depends on who you ask.look at some of old farmers,i mean 60& 70 yearolds.did they get skin cancer?

the ultraviolet rays cause cancer in light skinned people who r already genetically predisposed to skin cancer. a chemical in older sunscreens called "paba" was suspected to cause cancer, but was since removed by the fda. lots of light skinned people go thru life without a problem with sun exposure cuz they don't have the gene that turns on skin cancers.
