I have sinusitis- can i still exercise? |
Ok so i went to the nose, throat, and ear doctor because i had this horrible runny nose and my left ear hurted so much and he told me i had sinusitis. he gave me all this antibiotics and the first week i was great! but than i started having this runny nose again and i'm not sure if it will be ok if i go to exercise like i normally do 1hr and 20 min of cardio... i didnt exercise the first week when i had sinusitis because i had to rest but if im having runny nose again, veryy runny, will it make me even worse if i go and start running and doing all that exercise?? I would imagine that you should feel better before you exercise. I have also had two bouts with sinusitis, but my condition included dryness with intense, knock out, drag out pain. I heard the sinus' had to be moved, so I used two wet, hot towels and put one across my eyes and nose, and the other behind the neck. It's better if someone helps you, but I warmed the towels in the microwave when it cooled off, and continued this treatment for about six warm-ups. I have used medications over the counter and from the doctors in the past, and so has my son-in-law, but this method has warted off sinusitis. He had to do two consecutive days of treatment. It is relaxing. Sinusitis is no fun, and I hope this works for you as it did for us. If you feel up to exercising that's a sign you might be ready to resume it. I would start slowly and buildup realizing your body might be weak and you might feel sick afterwards if you over do it. Make sure you can breathe deeply and well, b/f starting, b/c you need to be able to breathe to exercise. Exercise will help you expel the nasties in your system like snot and dead bacteria and such. It's is a good think, but only if you have the energy. Don't ware your self out. This can make you sick again or give the infection the upper hand. If you can exercise for 20 minutes before feeling run down go for it. But rest afterwords. |
