Shortness of Breath and chest pain?

Sharp chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, swollen hand, popping sound in chest.

I am 26 and I have been experiencing chest pain and shortness of breath since around 21. In the last two years I have noticed that my breathing is getting worse. I hear an audible popping sound when I breath deep. I also have sharp pain from breathing deep. Breathing is almost a task now. It is more difficult to breath when I'm laying down. I feel pain in my left arm and I have general discomfort in the chest. I'm in good shape. My younger brother had heart surgery at 19 and I have a family history of heart problems. How can I convince a doctor to check out my heart.

Went to a doctor 3 years ago and he said I had pleuresy b/c of smoking. Also I know its not anxiety b/c it gets really bad immediatly after I smoke. I have quit now 6 mo.

Your saying you went to a doctor with these problems and family traits and, he ignore you. Sounds familiar. I went to one local Cardiologist for four years, changed to another one due to stress and wanted better advice. Was rushed into a heart hospital for open heart surgery, had six bypasses and told almost didn't make it and, had a bad aorta valve besides.

So, Number one: go see a different doctor, preferable one in a teaching hospital where you live, ask to see a cardiologist and explain your distress. Make him listen. You are ill.

Do you mean to say that you went to the doc with these symptoms and he said you were fine? Get a new doctor....immediately.

See your gp let him listen to your chest. If he says theres no problem, it could be you are anxious because of your family history. Anxiety can cause breathlessness.
A visit to your doctor should set your mind at rest.

given your family history, getting a work up by a cardiologist would be a great idea. they will do it if you ask and ins may pick it up b/c of your symptoms. due to the fact that your breathing is effected, you may want to see a pulmanologist too.

Definitely get a new doctor, and report THIS one.
You could also have emphysema which is a chronic lung disease.
The fact that you have trouble breathing, and it's painful when you lay down points to this.
It's very serious if not treated.
Have you ever been exposed to fine dust?
Either in your neighbourhood, or workplace?

It needs urgent treatment, don't put it off.

Good luck,

Pete.

Go to the ER

My 2垄 go to a pulmanologist, a lung specialist
