Shortness of breath with anxiety meds?

I had just stop taking paxil cr and have started lexapro. only taken 10 mg so far and have shortness of breath. is this from maybe the mix of both drugs and will this subside? my doctor said to keep taking the lexapro as it helps with my anxiety.

Both Lexapro (escitalopram) and Paxil (paroxetine) have an effect on serotonin, a chemical that is found in the brain. Excess levels of serotonin in the brain may cause serious or potentially life-threatening side effects. Early signs of this problem include increased confusion and restlessness. Other possible symptoms may include weakness, fever, nausea, and anxiety. In rare cases, high levels of serotonin in the brain may cause severe complications like seizures, stroke, and even death (sometimes called 鈥榮erotonin syndrome鈥?. Generally, escitalopram and paroxetine are not recommended to be used at the same time. If your doctor decides that it is necessary for you to be on both make sure you and your doctor are watching for symptoms of serotonin syndrome. If you develop any of these symptoms contact your doctor immediately. Ask your healthcare provider about these drugs and this potential interaction as soon as possible.

This interaction is well-documented and is considered major in severity.

I would not keep on taking this! You CAN Seize with medications! Get another Doctor or Emergency Room!
The E.R. Will probably tell you the same thing! I would just go to another doctor!!!!!! VERY SOON!!!!!!!

I also experience a shortness of breath when I stopped taking Paxil. I didn't go on anything else. The withdrawal sucked!!! Give it a few weeks. I'll bet you shortness of breath goes away.

i had the same situation. i went off paxil onto lexapro and was short of breath all the time and the panic attacks came back worse than ever. i figured the lexapro just wasnt working and the axiety was causing the shortness of breath. im on zoloft now and im alot better. e-mail me if you want to chat, ive been where you are just a couple months ago, i know its scary!

Lexapro made my heart beat extremely hard. I have now been put on prozac 20mg and feel MUCH better. I tried Effexor for 2 days too and that was awful. You could be experiencing withdrawal symptoms from the Paxil. It's known for making you feel quite nasty after you stop taking it. Everyone is different and Lexapro works for some people, but it only increased my anxiety and dependence on lorazepam to control the attacks.
