Shortness of breath at night?(read below)? |
at night i get a shortness of breath.I dont have asmah(i know i spelled that wrong),i dont smoke,im healthy, and im only 13.I try elevating both pillows but nothing works. Its getting irratating.I dont know if it has something to do with my nose or other things but its uncomfortable. Some help please. Are you overweight? That can cause shortness of breath when lying down. And is it that your chest feels tight or is your nose stuffy? If its your nose, try lying on your side and use a cool mist humidifier. If its your chest, and you are overweight, lose weight. If not you should see a doctor. Either way when you see your doctor again, you need to bring it up. You need to see a Doctor. How long has this been going on? If it's something relatively new (less than a week) you may have walking pneumonia and only a chest x-ray can help. You may have an infection in your Bronchials, giving you Bronchitis or inflammation. How do you know it's not Asthma? My kids and I don't wheeze we cough when we're having an Asthma attack. Dr.'s are just now starting to admit that coughing is a real symptom and as serious as the wheezing. I can tell you, I am a Medical And Chiropractic Assistant and the SOB IS NOT normal. This is very serious so I would ask your parents to get you in to the Dr. ASAP. something like that happened to me once, i had to take huge breaths throughout the night or i felt shortness of breath, one night i had a panic attack because i couldn't breath Does your home environment have any mold or dust in it? When the Air Conditioner is on, I cough more than normal (I have asthma as well as being an RT). If you are exposed to some kind of irritant in your home, it might take a few hours for it to effect you. Having lots of fresh air could help relieve your shortness of breath. Please know that shortness of breath is a very important warning that something bad is happening and seeing a doctor about it in a timely manner may help you feel better in the long term. Shortness of breath is a very broad term moreover you have not mentioned since how long you have been suffering from it .Although you claim to be non asthmatic, one cannot completely exclude Asthma. For your information there is an entity by name Nocturnal Asthma which develops at night associated with shortness of breath, cough, wheezing(all of them may not be present).A trial of inhaled bronchodilators(Salbutamol/Albuterol) half an hour before going to bed would be useful both as a diagnostic and therapeautic modality. If this works probably you do have nocturnal asthma. |
