Severe shortness of breath.......and pain?

My husband has starting having episodes of pain in his chest (between the breast) and severe shortness of breath.
NOT A HEART ATTACK!!!! He would be dead if that were the cast.
Could it be Asthma............?????????.
The episodes occur about once a week always at work when he exerts himself

It could be angina pectoris. This a precursor to a myocardial infarction(heart attack). He should see his healthcare provider immediately! They may want to do a ECG on him to be sure. And it could also be acid reflux or any number of things. It's best to see the Physician so He can rule out other causes, and give a course of action.

The fact that you say on exertion would make me leary of a cardiac problem. Aim for the worst and be happy if it is something less. Just because he has had chest pain in the past does not mean he would be dead , but he certainly may be at some point if left ignored.

Please DO NOT ignore these symptoms! Any practitioner would immediately investigate (and hopefully) eliminate the possibility of heart problems.

I'll be honest here - breathlessness and chest pain upon exertion would lead me to suspect angina of some form, which is a heart condition which must be treated.

Note : HOWEVER healthy your husband is, get this checked out at the earliest opportunity, as heart problems can present at any age.

(There are other explanations for the symptoms, but these are irrelevent, as investigating the above is far more important!)

A guy can have a heart attack and NOT die. Typically, if it is a heart problem, the pain won't subside even in a resting state. If that's the case, get to a hospital NOW!

He still needs to see a doc, even if it's asthma. That typically doesn't cause chest pain, though. Asthma is more like wanting to breathe in air, but you can't. You also typically get coughing fits with it.

It sounds like angina, which almost always will lead to myocardial infarctions if left untreated. He needs to make an appointment to see his doctor *immediately* the next one could be the big one.

your husband should definatly see his doctor,ASAP! especially if the pain radiates up and down both arms and around into his back, dont second guess this take him to the doctors quickly!i doubt its asthma ,because i have asthma and i never got that.you know the old saying, when in doubt check it out! see your doctor now!

This is not a question that you should be asking here. Get your husband to the hospital

HE NEEDS TO SEE A DOCTOR IT COULD BE ANGINA OR ASTHMA HEART AND LUNGS WORK TOGETHER SO IF ONE CANT HANDLE THE JOB THE OTHER WILL CARRY ;THE LOAD HE COULD BE HEADING FOR A HEART ATTACK HE SHOULD GET A CHECK UP BEFORE HE CHECKS OUT AND BE HONEST WITH THE DOCTOR
