Shock from a burn? |
What happens to someone when they go into shock from a burn? There body will get cold and they could get hypothermia. Even though there were near a heat source at one time. The body adjust by doing the opposite in a trauma situation. there in shock They'll get light-headed, have chills, become extremely pale, possibly pass out...etc. when they go into shock from a burn...basically they are unaware that they are burnt or unaware of what is going on... They turn cold, and their blood pressure drops. They have to be kept warm. and comfortable. If the burn is great enough to cause shock, they should be on the way to a hospital. Going into shock from any trauma (emotional and/or physical) can lead to death very quickly if not treated immediately Someone can go into shock after severe burns - 3rd degree - that cover a large part of their body. Its because the skins layers are gone and the body is exposed to bacteria and loses fluids, the blood pressure drops which sends them into shock, along with septic shock becuz of the infections that have set in from their body being wide open. |
