Chicken Pox and Shingles?

I have just gotten Chicken Pox. I have never had them before. I don't know of anyone that has them that would have been infected with them but, I have been around someone who has had shingles. Can a person get Chicken Pox from Shingles? Does Shingles carry a virus for Chicken Pox? I do work at Wal-Mart so I could have been around a customer who had them. I just wanted to know if I person could get them from shingles?

yes, you can get chicken pox from a person who's having shingles since they are caused by the same virus. the only difference is that, the person who has shingles had the chickenpox before. what happened was, when that person had the chicken pox, the virus wasn't totally eliminated and just stayed there, and then for some reasons, it got reactivated. once it gets reactivated, the disease is now called shingles. the shingles also affects the nerves (specifically the dermatomes), so the person feels pain. the lesions go around the chest or waist but it can't go around it completely . so it appears on one side of the body only. in chickenpox, you can only feel the itchiness and the lesions erupt all over your body.

Chicken Pox & Shingles are from the same virus. And both are highly contagest you can (normally) only get chicken pox once if you get shingles you can get it over and over again.

If you have Chicken Pox now,then you should take it very seriously,because it's very dangerous at such a later age. If you would had them in your childhood,then it shouldn't appair again. I advice you to see a doctor as soon as you can.

chicken pox and shingles come from same virus. herpes zoster virus. somehow if one never had chicken pox and exposed to someone has either chicken pox or shingles, the person may have chicken pox. later in life when we get older or our immune system is down, we might have shingles. in order to suppres herpes zoster virus, we should take care of our body and maintain a healthy immune system. One way to avoid contracting this virus, one has to be vaccinated when they are younger. but for you, since you have it, you're now immune to it and may not need to be vaccinated. ask your doctor if you have to. and make sure to avoid contact with people around you when you have lesions because it's highly contagious but will soon get rid of it. good luck and stay healthy. it's part of life.

Chicken pox is caused by the Herpes Zoster virus and often you get this disease when you are young. In later years, the virus, which was dormant reappears as Shingles by effecting the nerves and produces pain, itch and a rash around the effective area, often on the back. There is an antiviral drug for Shingles. Look both up in Google for more information. PS I am not a doctor, just speaking from experience.
