Chicken Pox and Shingles? |
I have just gotten Chicken Pox. I have never had them before. I don't know of anyone that has them that would have been infected with them but, I have been around someone who has had shingles. Can a person get Chicken Pox from Shingles? Does Shingles carry a virus for Chicken Pox? I do work at Wal-Mart so I could have been around a customer who had them. I just wanted to know if I person could get them from shingles? Yes, you could get checkenpox from someone who has shingles. They are the same virus....shingles is just what people develop when they catch the virus after they;ve already had a chicken pox outbreak. I had chicken pox as an adult: caught it from my 2 kids who caught it from neighbors' kids. Chicken Pox & Shingles are from the same virus. And both are highly contagest you can (normally) only get chicken pox once if you get shingles you can get it over and over again. If you have Chicken Pox now,then you should take it very seriously,because it's very dangerous at such a later age. If you would had them in your childhood,then it shouldn't appair again. One way to avoid contracting this virus, one has to be vaccinated when they are younger. but for you, since you have it, you're now immune to it and may not need to be vaccinated. ask your doctor if you have to. and make sure to avoid contact with people around you when you have lesions because it's highly contagious but will soon get rid of it. good luck and stay healthy. it's part of life.
