Migraines and Shingles Please Help?

Sorry this is going to be long. One of my closest friends commited suicide on May 9th. Ever since I found out I have been having what the doctor calls tension migrains. I have pain from temple to temple and pain all the down my back. I also have shingles on the right side of my back. Even before I had the shingles I have had pain in the muscles closest to the spine. It hurts to walk, cough, or sneeze. The weird thing is that every time I stand up I get a migraine that lasts about 10 - 20 seconds. The thing I am worried about is my doctor only gave me sleeping pills and mecidine to cure the shingles. By the way this is the fourth time I have had shingles. Was my doctor correct in the prescription she gave me? Also is it normal to have a short migraine every time I stand?

There is a new development in migraine therapy:

Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at

I'v heard that shingles is in the same family as chicken pox. My dad had shingles after he had a heart attack and the doctor told us that tension and stress can cause them to break out. He prescribed a topical cream that cleared it up within a few weeks. I have never heard of a migrain that only lasted 10-20 seconds. Have you had your blood pressure checked. I would definetly question the sleeping pill thing. Maybe a very light anit drepressent would have been better

In 1995 an injection came on the market to act as cure for Shingles and nerve damage. If you research the internet you will find it. It must be taken on the onset or before as a pre-caution to getting Shingles Anyone can get Shingles. If one had chicken pox as a child, then you will get it as an adult. It is a virus that is in your body from childhood. It is caused by extreme stress. Once the nerves in your body is damaged you will have it for life. I am left-handed, so it started in my left side. some people get it in the facial area, near the eyes. It can cause blindness. There is product called: Fimvar.
I had shingles and now I have nerve damage in my thumb and first finger. At first it was very painful, now it has subsided to the point where I forgot I have it.
Shingles starts as a red spot or spots, then starts to itch. Next the pain sets in. Extreme pain. then you will get blisters, many of them. I used oatmeal soap for shower or bath. 750 MG of hydrocodene for pain and some very strong narcotics. after 3 weeks the blisters will start to dry up and break. "DO NOT UNDER ANY TIME BREAK THE BLISTERS". Let the blisters dry up and then fall off. In the 4 week, one will return to normal. About 3 years later, I contacted Scaitic Pain same side, not as bad as Shingles, but bad. I was confined to a wheel chair for 3 weeks. This is the part of Shingles also, some get it, some don't. It starts in the lower back and spine to where the lower back connects to the buttocks area, then travels down the leg to the foot and into the toes, also very painful. It took about 4 weeks to heal, but it never goes away.
I was driving to Texas and stopped at a cafe. I started to talk about my Scaitic pain when a person came to me and said, it can be cured by rolling a large bath towel, Military style, bed roll type and placing under the cheeks of the buttocks, laying flat on a flat hard surface for 20 minutes and not moving. It straightens or aligns the spine and the pain is gone forever. Headaches comes with Shingles, I have them too. Your doctor isn't that good, you should have only got shingles one time and not many. My doctor is in his 60's, he is the best of the best. Knew as soon as I entered his clinic, what I had. I am 67 years young and still going strong.
