Does anyone think that Sexual Health Clinics still have a stigma attached to them?

I work in sexual health, and I am just curious. . . .what do people think of these kinds of clinics? Do they Scare you? Do they make you feel uncomfortable? Do you actually think that its a positive thing to take an active role in looking after your sexual health? What do you think is involved?. . . .thanks for your feedback

yes i do , i recently had to go to one as my coil was being awkward to be changwed i live in a very small town and no such thing here and had to go to the city !! it was a alfull place and fely everyone was wondering what everyone had lol...i hated it , worst still i was there hours as had a reaction to local anthetic , the nurses etc were great , but my mate stuck in the waiting room was really embarassed , as she was sat right under the sexual health sign ...i should look at this more maturely at my age , but it was a new experience to me !! the people were lovely tho !! i would go back there if i needed to protect myself , or have tests for std s . as a good resorce , i kno all about the data protection etc so kno that no one would know about it . but still for a younger girl/boy i could see it being a problem to go ??

Yes in a way. I went for a check up on Friday (nothing wrong just paranoid about there being something wrong lol). Everyone is just normal there. Better safe than sorry I say.

I'm not sure you're looking for my answer, I worked in sexual health as well. And as of a few years ago there was definitley stigma attached, as shown by the giggling, blushing little twerps who couldn't even say what they were there for.

I live in the West Indies now, and there is a very real stigma here. The Planned Parenthood doesn't even have a sign on it!

yeah i would say that there is.

i havent ever been to one personally, the nearest ive been is to the nurse for a regular smear test!
if i had to go i think id be very embarrassed, not with the place but what would possibly have to be done there, for some reason i always feel like you would have a room full of people staring up your crotch all day and commenting!
i always use protection as i dont want any nasties (thanks very much) and im proud ive never had to go before and plan never to have to go!

my mate goes every couple of months for the "full works" as she does spread herself about a bit and has a tendency not to use protection although she knows she should.
my hubbys mate was diagnosed with ghonoria (excuss the spelling!) a while ago and was scared of going back to the clinic as they gave him the "umbrella treatment" i think that made him use condoms after that!
i think that if everyone took it upon themselves to do the right thing and bag it then we wouldnt have half the problems we do now!
it seems that a lot of younger people either dont know about contraception or cant be bothered with it which is a shame as they dont know what a benefit it is to them! but yes i think there still is a stigma attached to the clinics that only dirty promiscous people go there
