Is it worth it ...?

Let's say rape or sexual assault happened some six years back, is it worth it to allow yourself to be opened up with a speculum if the girl is single, not sexually active and the only penetration which has occured is way back all those years ago, if they want to establish rape or penetration ? Or is it best to just forget about it ?

Should a girl go for such examinations alone ?

The way the speculum looks is as though it can do lots of harm.

Do you think it will be double the trauma ?

i was raped a few years ago and i have not been sexually active since then if i went to a doctor and they established that there was penetration it would be very traumatizing. i already know it happend and i would not want a doctor telling me what i already know especially because it is such a painful memory so no its not worth it

a speculum is not going to hurt you, you should have been checked out after the rape had a rape kit and pap and pelvic exam. go get examined, if you do not want to go alone, take a trusted friend....

If the assult happened years ago all evidence has already been washed away. You should have a pap smear and be tested for STDs. The speculum is uncomfortable, but should not hurt. If you aren't comfortable going alone, don't go alone. However, while the doctor can tell your hymen is broken, he can't say what caused it after this much time.
