Family attitude towards dad being a sex addict?

Thank you so much for everybody's answer to my previous question about whether or not my 62 yr old dad can assault me and my daughter.
I have another question if i may:
Ever since i found out about my dad taking viagra among many other sex meds and sleeping with whores in their twenties i've been avoiding him totally.i don't return his calls,i can't go visit my mom because chances r he'll show up.i totally loathe him and fear he might assault me and my daughter. i also feel so bitter and angry at him and don't know how to deal with him.
i've learned that addicts r actually depressed,lonely human beings who where physically or emotionally assaulted when they were young and think that the high they get from sex will make them happy.
so does part of his recovery involve us family members connecting with him more to fill a void inside of him?
In other words how do we treat him and will whatever we do curb his sick sexual urges?

The only person who can change a person is himself. If he doesn't or won't seek treatment there is nothing the family can do to help. If he does seek therapy then part of it will probably involve the family. However this is up to you. If you don't want to build a relationship with your father then don't. Harboring feelings against him will just make both of you uncomfortable and probably angry. At the very least I would suggest counseling for yourself. There you can determine if dealing with your father is in YOUR best interest or not. After all, in this situation your interests, from the prospective of you and your daughter, are what counts not what may make him better. And if he is in therapy and you decide not to have anything to do with him then he and his therapist can work that out.
