Sufferers of typhoid fever ingest tiny particles of faeces(sewage), and it is confirmed by a blood test. So yes, if you suspect anything like that, get a blood test done.

If you had some of the offending germs (e-coli), etc, in your bloodstream, you would be very, very ill so I don't believe you could prove this by a blood test. Unless you are ingesting the sewage somehow, how is it getting into your body? If you are thinking your water supply, I would take a sample of water and get it tested.

The others have given good info. Many of the potential exposures would be the same as found because someone went to the bathroom, didn't wash their hands, and then handled food. For chemical exposures, it is a little different, in that each chemical will trigger a different reaction in the blood and the reactions can usually be caused by many things, so cause and effect is tricky and takes an expert unless the exposure is so bad it lead to great medical problems or death.
