Postpartum Septicemia....?

hi.. my wife gave birth to my daughter in April 2006 by C.Section. After about 24 hrs, she got Septicemia. Her Platelets fell down to 17000. She battled for her life with survival chances of merely 20%. By gods grace she was cured. Now she wants another baby. Same is my wish but not with the cost of endangering her life. She is too valuable for me. What are the chances of re-occurance of septicemia?

The best way of avoiding any re-occurence is by taking something that protects against bacterial infections and is non-toxic.

Hospitals are plagued by bacterial infections, including MRSA and several other pathogenic bacteria. This can be very harmful to both Mother and baby.

There's a great product out now for just this sort of situation. You might want to take a look at this product, it's a new technology that kills bacteria by resonance, not contact.

If you keep the immune system healthy and use this to accomplish that task, then there is little chance of any sort of bacterium entering the bloodstream.

You may have to take a Doctors advice if using this while the pregnancy is under way but there seems to be little to worry about because the dosage is so low.

Septicemia is caused by infection spreading to the blood of the patient. If she does not have an ongoing infection or risk of having an infection such as diabetes, then she is not at risk. What I would suggest is to have your wife checked by a competent obstetrician.

Certainly you will tell her OB doctor of her history is it is not the same doctor. They will keep an eye on her post op if she has another C-section. Chances are not high that she will get septic again just because it happened once.

I would see a doctor before trying to concieve. It is not likely to reoccur, as it is an infection of the blood. If she has a healthy pregnancy she should be fine. It will also depend on how she delivers the baby, you may choose to opt of a C section in advance, so you and the medical team can be prepared for any reoccurances.

She would have contracted the septicemia through an infection in the incision that was made - C section, when she had the baby. It is not something that she can "get" or contract. Somehow, germs got into her C section during healing. I can understand your concern and hesitancy but it is unlikey that it will happen again. You just may need to mention it to her Dr (although this is probably already noted in her medical history), so that if she has a C section again which is likely, she can be put on antibiotics right away.
