Do acid in the blood have anything to do with septicemia?

Do acid in the blood have anything to do with septicemia?

No, acid has little to do with septicemia.

Septicemia is another word for a bacterial infection that has spread to the blood. Think of a big cut on your leg that has become infected. The infection is so bad that some of it got into the blood vessels in the surrounding area. When this happens the blood can spread the infection around. And since the blood is warm, has oxygen, and there is alot of it, it can harbor large infections. Septicemia is when your bodies natural defenses, like white blood cells...can't control the infection anymore.

Technically, septicemia requires antibiotics or medical interventions.

Septicemia has almost nothing to do with a change in pH in the blood. Even with a microorganism infection of the blood the a properly functioning kidney will keep the blood at a stedy state of pH 7.4 The toxins released by the microorganisms will cause a reflex action of the bodys natural immune system often causing inflammation and fever. Invasion of a gram negative microorganism in the blood is much more harmful and often times leades to toxic shock syndrom.

No, septicemia is cause by infection in the blood, not from acid. Usually diseases such as diabetes and immune deficiencies can cause bacteria to form in the body and spread throught the blood and cause fevers, chills, and can lead to septic shock, toxins released from the bacteria that the body can't fight from already being in a sick or diseased state. The young and old are the usual vicims that can be afflicted with this. Ph levels in the blood have nothing to do with the bacteria being released in the body, causing septicemia.
