My dad is dieing of septicemia (blood Infection)...?

And his hands r swelling and HOSPICE cant get ahold of the doc! why? because he just had a baby and rushes home to them instead of taking care of his dieing patients well hospice is going to personally talk to him for a aproval he has not enen returned my call for 4 days what a doc or what!? what do u think!???

have no anger at all just wanna know whats u r answers no disrespect torowerds docs and theirs lifes!

If that specific doctor was unable to answer your call, because he was home with a new baby, there should have been a doctor on call for them, and should have called you back. I would call the office, and speak to someone there and tell them you have called before and haven't heard back from the doctor. Tell them you're concerned about your father's care, and you really need to talk to someone. Be calm and polite, as being 'nasty' to anyone will get you no where.

Doctors have a life too, you know. If said doc was unavailable, another should of been in his place.

Don't misplace your anger and angst. It doesn't do any good.

Doctors always have someone to fill in for them. Ask the Hospice to get hold of the other doctor. There should always be a doctor available to Hospice when a patient needs a change in medication or has a change. Hospice patients need more care than most other patients. Isn't there someone else on call?

I am sorry your Dad has this. It is very hard to go through loosing a parent. I lost my Dad and then my Mom.

That must be extremely frustrating. I believe that hospice needs 2 doctors to agree that the patient qualifies for hospice. It can be any 2 doctors, including the hospice doc. If your dad's doc won't cooperate with you or with the hospice doc, you could try on your own to find another doc who would be willing to get him into hospice. However, if his insurance requires his primary to approve hospice, then you just have to keep trying to reach him. I think doctors are more likely to call other doctors back, so the hospice doc may have more luck.

Also, you should know that he can get comfort care at the hospital without being on hospice. You can always refuse treatments or tests that would be too painful or invasive. The nurses should be able to give medication to make him comfortable (although they will have to get the order from the doctor). You would miss out on the counseling/support aspects of hospice, but the hospital should be able to provide the rest. I hope it all works out and that your dad is comfortable.

I am sorry about your father - it must be dreadful for you and the rest of your family. I have always found that calling my regular family physician is the best way to get help when another doctor doesn't respond to me. Your regular physician carries more clout with the local hospital as well as other physicians - he/she may be able to get hold of someone who can help your father. If the current doctor doesn't respond then find someone who will and fire the bad one - no need to put up with poor medical care.
