Is protein good for sepsis patients?

Is protein good for sepsis patients?

Sepsis is a serious systemic infection which requires antibiotics for treatment.

I'm assuming that you mean eating foods with protein, like fish, meats, eggs, etc. Protein is an important element in every diet in some form or other, and eating foods with protein does not interfere with any antibiotics that I know of. there are some antibiotics with which taking calcium supplements is not allowed. and you may want to eat lightly if you are having stomach problems. You can ask the pharmacist who gives you the particular antibiotic how it should be taken and what kinds of other medications and foods might interact badly with it.

ty Totsakan's answer is very good also, tho more technical, and addressing patients in the most critical stages, while I am addressing what the diet is in patients who are able to eat. Report It

Albumin, a type of protein is known to decrease with sepsis which is not due to reduced synthesis in the liver but due to fluid shift. However, many studies showed that there is no benefit of giving albumin to septic patient.
Now sepsis can be treated with a type of protein called activated protein C.
Generally, patients with sepsis should not be fed until gut hypoxia and hypoperfusion have been ruled out. Once feeding can safely begin, immune-enhancing nutrition may reduce the mortality rate in sepsis. Arginine, omega-3 fatty acids, and mRNA have been identified in preliminary studies to be of potential benefit.
